Silvia R. Tandeciarz is Chancellor Professor of Modern Languages and Literatures and Vice Dean for Social Sciences and Interdisciplinary Studies at William & Mary, where she has worked since 1999. As both a translator and scholar, she bridges Latin American Cultural Studies with human rights advocacy.

Her research examines how memory shapes democracy and human rights in post-conflict societies, particularly through visual, spatial, and performative cultural practices in Argentina. She has extensively published on traumatic memory transmission related to Argentina's last dictatorship.
Current projects extend these themes through international collaborations, emphasizing global citizenship. Her translation work includes critical treatises and multilingual poetry collections, with recent recognition for translating Juana Goergen’s Sea in my Bones.
