Silvia Pergetti is a social anthropologist and ESRC Research Fellow at the London School of Economics (LSE), based in the Department of Anthropology. Her work focuses on energy transitions, development, and technical repair practices in South and Southeast Asia and sub-Saharan Africa. She holds a PhD in Social Anthropology from the University of Edinburgh (2018–24), an MScR from Edinburgh (2017–18), and an MSc in Anthropology and Development from LSE (2015–17).
Her research explores the labor dynamics and knowledge systems sustaining energy access in marginalized regions, particularly India’s Sundarbans. Key themes include care, masculinities, and the socio-technical dimensions of energy justice. She is currently developing a project on the quantification of 'impact' in off-grid solar repair and writing a book on repair labor in energy-poor settings.
Notable works include studies on electrical repair masculinities (2025), feminist energy systems (2023), and post-disaster reconstruction in Emilia, Italy (2015–2016). Her work has been funded by the ESRC and recognized with the LSE Lucy Mair Prize.
