Dr. Silvia Mah serves as Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Biola University's Crowell School of Business and Director of the Office of Innovation, where she fosters redemptive entrepreneurship through student venture development and innovation initiatives.
Her academic credentials include:
- Ph.D. in marine molecular biology from Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego
- M.B.A. from UCSD’s Rady School of Management
- B.S. in biology with honors from Pepperdine University
Dr. Mah's research centers on servant leadership in startups, impact investing, and women's entrepreneurial success, amplified by her hands-on experience as an investor in 200+ early-stage companies across life sciences, medical devices, and SaaS. Her globally recognized She Invests! podcast and book The Startup Investor Mindset bridge academic theory with practical venture development, emphasizing both financial returns and social impact through her 'return on impact' framework.
As founder and chairwoman of the Stella Foundation and co-founding venture partner at Ad Astra Ventures, she directs significant resources toward women-led businesses while advising student entrepreneurs through Biola courses including Entrepreneurship Practicum and Social Entrepreneurship. Her strategic leadership extends to past roles as diversity director at UCSD’s The Basement accelerator and program director at USD’s Center for Peace and Commerce.
