Dr. Silvia De Marchis is an Associate Professor in the Department of Life Sciences and Systems Biology at the University of Turin, with a focus on developmental neurobiology and adult neurogenesis. She is affiliated with the Neuroscience Institute Cavalieri Ottolenghi (NICO) and serves on international relations committees.
- Research Areas: Neural stem cells, mitochondrial function in neurons, neurodevelopmental disorders (BBSOAS), and olfactory system plasticity.
- Key Projects: PRIN PNRR 2022 on miR-211 in neuronal aging and PRIN 2022 on NR2F1 regulation of mitochondrial function in neural development.
- Contact: silvia.demarchis@unito.it | ORCID: 0000-0002-8096-7670
Her research explores how neurogenic niches respond to environmental stimuli (e.g., social behavior, toxins) and genetic factors (e.g., NR2F1/COUP-TFI, Semaphorin7A), with implications for neurodevelopmental disorders and neuroinflammation. She teaches courses in cellular biology and developmental neurobiology to undergraduate students.
