Silvia Bonetta is an Associate Professor at the Department of Life Sciences and Systems Biology, University of Turin. She teaches courses in environmental hygiene, water quality analysis, and applied biomolecular techniques, primarily focused on public health and environmental microbiology.
Her research addresses:
- Assessment of antibiotic-resistant bacteria (ARB) and resistance genes (ARG) in environmental matrices, particularly the integrated water cycle
- Detection of pathogenic microorganisms and microbiological indicators (viruses, bacteria, protozoa) in environmental samples to understand human-environment health relationships
- Epidemiological surveillance through wastewater pathogen monitoring (e.g., SARS-CoV-2)
