Silvana Petrović

Dr. Silvana Petrović is a Full Professor at the Department of Pharmacognosy, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Belgrade. She has been employed there since 1992, progressing from assistant professor (1999) to associate professor (2004) and full professor (2010). She has served as Head of the Department of Pharmacognosy since April 2025 and previously from 2007-2019.

Her research focuses on phytochemistry, pharmacological characterization of plant isolates, and plant chemotaxonomy/chemophenetics, with particular emphasis on pharmaceutical quality of herbal drugs and regulation of herbal medicinal products. She has published 98 international and 24 national scientific papers (H-index: 24) and contributed to one monograph, two national book chapters, and a national patent.

She leads and participates in international research collaborations, including a bilateral project under the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SASA) since 2023. Her work spans pharmacological evaluation of plant extracts, chemotaxonomic studies, and quality control of herbal products. She has reviewed for ~30 journals and served on the editorial board of Chemistry & Biodiversity.
