Silas Beane is a Professor of Physics at the University of Washington, affiliated with the Department of Physics within the College of Arts & Sciences. He is a core member of the Nuclear Theory Group (NTG) and the InQubator for Quantum Simulation (IQuS). His research focuses on nuclear theory, lattice gauge theory, and quantum information science, particularly applying entanglement measures and geometric quantum mechanics to nucleon structure and few-body interactions. He co-founded the NPLQCD collaboration, pioneering lattice QCD applications to nuclear physics.
Recent research includes light-front quantization approaches to QCD and atomic physics at the 2D-3D spatial interface. Funded by the U.S. Department of Energy through NTG and IQuS grants, his work bridges theoretical physics with advanced computational methods. Silas holds a prominent role in high-performance computing initiatives and quantum simulation research.
