Sigrid Quack

Sigrid Quack is a Senior Professor of Sociology at the University of Duisburg-Essen and Director of the KHK/Centre for Global Cooperation Research. She also serves as Principal Investigator of the DFG Research Training Group “Cross-border Labor Markets” and Co-Editor-in-Chief of the journal Organization Theory. Her work focuses on transnational governance structures, epistemic authority, and global cooperation dynamics across diverse world regions.

Research Interests: Quack examines how transnational institutions develop, the role of public/private/civil society actors in governance, and legitimacy challenges in global cooperation. Key themes include:

• World order conceptions and their impact on policy fields like sustainability and migration governance
• Transnational professional communities and conflicting worldviews
• Nationalism’s influence on global cooperation frameworks

Affiliations: In addition to her university role, she leads the KHK Centre which explores global cooperation mechanisms. Current projects analyze legitimacy debates in transnational governance and policy-making processes.
