Signy Wegener is an Honorary Lecturer at the School of Psychological Sciences, Macquarie University, affiliated with the Centre for Reading. She holds a PhD in Cognitive Science and specializes in research on reading development, vocabulary acquisition, and cognitive learning mechanisms. Her work employs eye-tracking technology and explores topics like orthographic learning, affective priming in visual word recognition, and bilingual education.
Key research interests include understanding how spacing effects influence memory retention, the role of emojis in cognitive processing, and optimizing literacy interventions for children. She has been recognized with prestigious awards, including the 2022 Australian Journal of Learning Difficulties Early Career Researcher Award and the 2023 Rebecca L. Sandak Young Investigator Award.
