Siddhant Issar is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of Louisville. He specializes in modern and contemporary political theory with a focus on Black, Indigenous, and anti-colonial thought. His work interrogates the intersections of race, caste, empire, and inequality, particularly through the lens of the Black Lives Matter movement. Issar holds a PhD from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst (2021), and previously served as a Rising Scholar postdoctoral fellow at the University of Virginia's Department of Politics.
Research interests include critical political theory, racial capitalism, settler colonialism, and transnational race dynamics. His current book project, Theorizing Racial Capitalism in the Era of Black Lives Matter, examines how racialized systems of power operate globally. Key publications analyze the theoretical foundations of racial capitalism, the legacy of slavery, and intersections of Marxist and anti-colonial frameworks.
Issar's scholarship has been recognized with the American Political Science Association’s Leo Strauss Award (2022) for the best dissertation in political philosophy. His work bridges theoretical rigor with contemporary social movements, offering critical insights into systemic inequality. Ongoing research continues to explore abolitionist frameworks and the decolonization of political thought.
