Sid Dobrin is a Professor at the University of Florida, holding dual roles in writing studies and leadership as Chair. His research bridges Digital Humanities (DH) and Environmental Humanities (EH), focusing on emerging technologies like AI, AR, and VR, alongside ecological dimensions of writing and oceanic criticism. He directs the Trace Innovation Initiative, a hub for writing technology research, and is affiliated with the Florida Institute for National Security (FINS) within UF’s AI Initiative. Dobrin’s work emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches, blending rhetorical theory with environmental ethics and digital innovation.
His major publications include Blue Ecocriticism and the Oceanic Imperative (2021), exploring ocean-centric ecological perspectives, and Fishing, Gone? (2019), addressing oceanic sustainability. Current projects include a book on oceanic protein security and edited volumes on AI and rhetorical ecologies.
