Shyh Wei Yang

Shyh Wei Yang is an Assistant Professor at Chapman University's Wilkinson College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, specializing in Sociology. His research explores intersections of identity, language, landscape, and health/well-being across Austronesia, East Asia, and North America.

Dr. Yang's ethnographic work investigates how political and economic forces shape land tenure and health outcomes among Indigenous communities, particularly Navajo and Austronesian Bunun populations. His scholarship bridges Anthropology, Geography, and Health Studies with regional expertise in Asia and the Americas.

Teaching Experience: Has instructed anthropology courses at University of California, Riverside (2009; 2012-2014) and served as adjunct instructor at Santiago Canyon College since Fall 2015.
