Shyam Sablani

Dr. Shyam Sablani is a Professor in the Department of Biological Systems Engineering at Washington State University (WSU), part of the College of Agricultural, Human, and Natural Resource Sciences (CAHNRS). He holds a Ph.D. in Food/Process Engineering from McGill University, an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (Madras), and a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Raipur.

His research focuses on food engineering, particularly polymeric packaging solutions, materials science applications in food safety, and advanced processing technologies. Key areas include microwave processing, UV-C light inactivation of pathogens, and biodegradable packaging materials. He has received numerous awards, including the Marcel Loncin Research Prize (2016) and the Distinguished Lecturer honor from the Institute of Food Technologists.
