Shyam Karrah

Dr. Shyam Karrah is a Senior Lecturer in Computer Science at the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science, The University of Texas at Dallas. He holds an M.S. in Computer Science from Jackson State University (1994).

With over 24 years of continuous academic service at UT Dallas, Dr. Karrah teaches core computer science courses including Database Management, Data Structures & Algorithms, and Software Engineering. His pedagogical focus emphasizes practical skill development and industry-aligned curriculum design. Prior to his academic career, Dr. Karrah gained industry experience as Territory Manager at Nalco Chemicals and Deputy Manager at Manali Petro Chemical Limited.

Administrative contributions include serving as Department Chair at New Mexico Junior College (1994-2000), where he led the DACUM (Develop a Curriculum) initiative for the Computer Information Systems program. At UT Dallas, he functions as Graduate Advisor for the Computer Science program and received the Excellence in Advisement Award (2004-2005).
