Dr Shwetha Hegde is an Academic Fellow and Lecturer in Dentomaxillofacial Radiology at Sydney Dental School, part of the University of Sydney's Faculty of Medicine and Health. She holds a BDS and MDS from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, India, and is completing a PhD investigating AI's role in minimizing errors in dental radiography interpretation. Her research focuses on AI applications in radiology, patient safety, and improving clinical decision-making through technology.
Shwetha teaches and supervises in the Doctor of Dental Medicine program, emphasizing oral and maxillofacial radiology. She is a member of the Charles Perkins Centre, Australian Dental Association, and represents Australia-New Zealand in the International Association of Dentomaxillofacial Radiology. Her work bridges clinical practice with technological advancements, particularly in AI-driven diagnostic support systems.
