Shuo Tang

Dr. Shuo Tang is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of British Columbia, with cross-appointments in Biomedical Engineering. She directs research in biomedical optical imaging systems including multiphoton microscopy, optical coherence tomography, and micro-endoscopy for clinical applications.

Her laboratory develops innovative optical technologies for medical diagnostics, including handheld devices for cancer detection and endoscopic systems for minimally invasive imaging. Current projects focus on translating multiphoton imaging to clinical settings, particularly for early detection of oral cancer through real-time visualization of cellular and collagen structures. Her work has applications in dermatology, ophthalmology, and oncology.
