Professor Shunmay Yeung is a paediatrician specialising in Infectious Disease and Global Health at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), where she serves as Chair of the DTM&H exam board and co-leads the child health module. Her academic journey includes a PhD on antimalarial drug resistance under Sir Nicholas White and Dame Anne Mills, and she holds an MBBS, DTM&H, and FRCPCH.
Her research spans malaria, antimicrobial resistance, and climate change impacts on child health, with leadership roles in projects like DIAMONDS (Horizon 2020) and FIEBRE (DfID). She integrates qualitative research, cost-effectiveness modelling, and field studies.
Recent work focuses on diagnostic innovation for febrile illnesses and urban climate resilience, including the Children, Climate and Cities Action Lab. She has secured major grants from the Medical Research Council, Fondation Botnar, and WHO.
Scientific contributions include editorial roles (e.g., Frontiers in Medicine), committee memberships (WHO, Royal College of Paediatrics), and fieldwork in Sierra Leone, Cambodia, and sub-Saharan Africa. She has supervised 6 research students and mentors trainee doctors at St Mary's Hospital, London.
