Shulamit Kahn is a Professor at Boston University’s Questrom School of Business since 1987, specializing in Markets, Public Policy, and Law. She holds a PhD in Economics from MIT (1983) and previously taught at the University of California, Irvine. Her research focuses on women’s participation in STEM fields, immigration/emigration of STEM professionals, and apprenticeship systems. She currently chairs Jitegemee, a vocational program in Kenya, expanding her work to global education policy.
Key research areas include gender disparities in academic promotion, international STEM workforce dynamics, and the economic impacts of apprenticeships. Recent grants from the National Science Foundation and NIH support her work. She teaches econometrics and data analysis for business.
Dr. Kahn’s work spans conferences such as the Princeton Institute of Advanced Science and the European Gender Summit. Her publications address topics like postdoctoral career trajectories, grant success biases, and the role of immigration policies in STEM retention.
