Shreya Bhattacharyya is an Associate Teaching Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Physics at Simmons University, serving as STEMM Education Program Director and Clare Boothe Luce Professor. Her academic roles include PLAN advisor, faculty advisor for the ACS student chapter, and member of the 3+2 engineering committee to facilitate dual-degree engineering pathways.
Her research spans analytical chemistry and nanoscale microscopy, focusing on food spoilage prevention through surface coatings and macromolecular self-assembly, alongside cannabinoid system analysis using chromatography and spectroscopy. Complementing this, her pedagogical research examines how belonging impacts student performance and well-being in STEM education.
She holds the prestigious Clare Boothe Luce Professorship funded by the Henry Luce Foundation, which supports initiatives to advance student retention and confidence in STEMM fields. This award recognizes her commitment to empowering women in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medicine.
As an educator, she mentors students through senior thesis research (CHEM 355), advises the ACS student chapter, and guides participants in the 3+2 engineering program.
