Professor Shouqing Luo is Professor of Neurobiology at Peninsula Medical School, University of Plymouth. As a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, he teaches Clinical Neurobiology, Current Issues in Neurobiology, Placement and Employability, and serves as Director of Postgraduate Studies.
His research focuses on neurodegeneration mechanisms, particularly autophagy pathways, protein aggregation disorders, and cellular clearance systems in neurological diseases. The laboratory investigates molecular interventions targeting autophagy for therapeutic benefit.
Recent publications demonstrate significant contributions to autophagy-tethering compounds (ATTECs), RNA biology in repeat expansion disorders, and inflammasome regulation. His work spans molecular neuroscience, cell biology, and translational therapeutic development.
Professor Luo supervises doctoral research in neurobiology, autophagy regulation, and neurodegenerative disease mechanisms, providing academic mentorship through Special Study Units.
