Shohini Sengupta

Shohini Sengupta is an Associate Professor at the Jindal School of Banking & Finance, O.P. Jindal Global University, and concurrently pursues a PhD at the Faculty of Law & Justice (University of New South Wales) under the ARC Laureate Scholarship. Her research focuses on digital identity governance in India’s digital economy, financial regulation, and fintech policy.

She holds a B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) from the National Law Institute University, Bhopal, and an M.Sc. in Law and Finance from the University of Oxford (Weidenfeld Scholarship). Her professional experience includes legislative policymaking roles with Indian ministries and contributions to high-profile bills like the Companies Amendment Act 2016 and Financial Resolution and Deposit Insurance Bill 2017.

Her research explores intersections between technology law, financial sector regulation, and South Asian governance frameworks. Recent work addresses digital identity systems, financial privacy in banking, and algorithmic governance challenges. She has published in journals like the Indian Journal of Law and Technology, and contributes policy analyses to major Indian newspapers.

Awardees of her work include the ARC Laureate PhD Scholarship and Weidenfeld Leadership Scholarship. She has advised government bodies on fiscal transfers, cooperative bank reforms, and pension regulatory frameworks, and actively engages in policy dialogues through platforms like the India Internet Governance Forum and Global Finance Conclave.
