Dr. Shoaib Ahmed is an Associate Professor in Accounting at the University of Sussex Business School, specializing in critical accounting research. His work examines organizational, social, and cultural practices linked to modern slavery, wage theft, workplace bullying, and transparency. He holds a PhD from the University of Essex and an MSc from Brunel University London.
Research interests include modern slavery, political capital, secrecy, and violence in organizations. He has been awarded the LERA 2023 Scoville Award for international industrial relations research and the 2024 Research Excellence Award for Emerging Scholars. His work appears in journals like Journal of Management Studies and Organization Studies.
Teaching focuses on accountability and ethics in accounting. He has secured grants such as the UKRI-funded BRAIN project (2025–2026) exploring AI accountability. Active in professional activities, he organized workshops on marginalized communities in management studies.
