Shlomi Dinar is Dean of the Steven J. Green School of International and Public Affairs and Professor in the Department of Politics and International Relations at Florida International University. He holds leadership roles in academic administration and is a leading scholar in international environmental politics, hydro-politics, and transboundary water governance.

He has made significant contributions to understanding the resilience of international river basin institutions and the role of diplomacy in managing water scarcity.
His recent publications (2014–2024) reflect a consistent engagement with transboundary water management, climate variability, treaty effectiveness, and water-related terrorism. These works span political science, environmental studies, and security studies, demonstrating interdisciplinary depth. Key themes include the impact of treaties on cooperation, virtual water trade, and the geospatial mapping of water-related conflict risks.
