Dr. Shiyuan (Sharon) Zhong is a Professor in the Department of Geography, Environment and Spatial Sciences at Michigan State University. Her research integrates observational data and multi-scale numerical modeling to investigate applied meteorology and climatology, focusing on atmospheric boundary layer dynamics, wildfire-atmosphere interactions, and regional climate change in the Great Lakes region.
Research Interests:
- Fire Weather and Smoke Dispersion
- Climate Variability and Change
- Atmospheric Boundary Layer Processes
Article Trends: Her recent publications examine fire-atmosphere coupling, low-level jet climatology, sea ice dynamics, and climate change impacts on frost-free seasons. Key subfields include wildfire modeling, ENSO teleconnections, coastal pollution dispersion, and multi-scale atmospheric interactions.
