Shivani Ramoutar

Shivani Ramoutar is a Clinical Assistant Professor and Instructional Designer in the Department of Educational Technology and Foundations at the University of West Georgia’s College of Education. She holds a B.Sc. in Geography and Agribusiness (2013) and an M.Sc. in Geoinformatics (2017) from The University of the West Indies, and a Ph.D. in Curriculum & Instruction (Learning Design and Technology) from Purdue University (2024).

Her research focuses on learner-centered pedagogies, culturally responsive teaching, and equity in instructional design. She explores how educators make design decisions and advocates for technology use that prioritizes inclusivity. Recent work includes studies on graduate student emotional experiences, geospatial tools in engineering education, and open educational resources.

Her teaching responsibilities include foundational courses in the Instructional Technology program, such as MEDT-7461 and MEDT-7464. As an instructional designer, she supports the College of Education in achieving learner-centered outcomes through technology integration.
