Shiva Mohajernia

Dr. Shiva Mohajernia is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering at the University of Alberta, Canada. She leads the Energy Materials (NRGMATs) research group, focusing on advanced materials for energy conversion and storage.

• Visiting Scholar, Nanomaterial Catalysts for Sustainable Energy Technologies, McMaster University, Canada
• MS and BS in Materials Science and Engineering from University of Tehran and Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, Iran

Her research spans single-atom decorated materials, defect engineering of semiconductors, and electro/photocatalytic systems for green hydrogen production and value-added chemicals. The group actively explores power-to-X (P2X) technologies and novel nanostructured metal oxides.

Dr. Mohajernia teaches MAT E 211 - Characterization of Materials, covering advanced techniques like electron microscopy and diffraction methods. She previously served as a catalysis group leader at the Chemistry & Structure of Novel Materials Institute in Germany.
