Shiv Gandhi, MD, PhD, is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at Yale School of Medicine, specializing in infectious diseases. He is part of the ABIM Physician-Scientist Research Pathway and affiliated with the Section of Infectious Diseases. His clinical training includes residency in Internal Medicine at Yale and a fellowship in Infectious Diseases. He earned his MD and PhD in Biochemistry, Cellular and Molecular Biology from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (2018).
Dr. Gandhi's research focuses on antimicrobial resistance, phage therapy, and emerging infectious diseases. His work explores bacteriophage applications for drug-resistant infections and biofilm treatments. Notable projects include studies on remdesivir resistance in SARS-CoV-2, phage therapy for Achromobacter infections, and Lymphocytic Choriomeningitis Virus in HIV patients. He also investigates malaria drug development and HIV pathogenesis in elite suppressors.
