Shirin Provat is an Assistant Professor in Applied Mathematics at the University of Virginia, joining in Fall 2024. She holds a PhD in Applied and Computational Mathematics from Florida State University (FSU), awarded in 2024, marking her family's first doctoral degree. Her research focuses on optimizing boundary conditions for electroconvection under AC voltage, numerical methods for chaotic electrokinetic flows, and machine learning approaches to nonlinear PDEs.

Owenby Travel Award (2021), and recognition for teaching excellence.
