Shira Goldenberg

Shira Goldenberg is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the School of Public Health, San Diego State University. She also serves as an adjunct faculty member in the Division of Infectious Diseases and Global Public Health at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine, and directs research education at the Centre for Gender and Sexual Health Equity (CGSHE) at Providence Health Care.

Research Interests:
Dr. Goldenberg focuses on social epidemiological and mixed-methods approaches to address health inequities among marginalized populations, including im/migrants, sex workers, and young women globally. Her work emphasizes community-based research to improve access to healthcare and human rights, informed by partnerships with policy bodies and advocacy organizations.

• IRIS Study: CIHR-funded evaluation of immigrant women’s access to sexual and reproductive health services in BC.
• AESHA Study: Longitudinal cohort study examining structural interventions’ impacts on sexual health access among women sex workers in Metro Vancouver.
