Her work uniquely combines WHO-level policy development with frontline clinical implementation.
Analysis of her 15 most recent publications reveals dominant themes in global cancer systems (40%), health disparities (30%), and surgical outcomes research (30%), with increasing focus on workforce development and implementation science since 2023.
Her scientific recognition includes:
- Surgical Resident Humanitarian/Volunteerism Award (2015)
- Lancet Commissioner for Global Cancer Surgery Reports
- WHO contributor on cancer mortality and workforce studies
Dr. Murthy mentors through Yale's Cancer Prevention and Control program and VA Hospital collaborations, with active projects spanning Nigeria, US veteran facilities, and WHO policy initiatives. Her research is supported by Yale Cancer Center infrastructure and international partnerships including Memorial Sloan Kettering and Leeds Teaching Hospitals.
Current team activities focus on expanding the Nigerian colorectal cancer cohort, developing cancer registry implementation frameworks, and analyzing surgical disparities in AAPI populations through Yale's Smilow Cancer Hospital infrastructure.
