Shilpa R Taufique

Dr. Shilpa R Taufique is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She holds key roles including Vice Chair for Faculty Development, Chief Psychologist of the Division of Psychology, and Chair of the Psychiatry CHANGE Committee. She directs the internationally recognized Comprehensive Adolescent Rehabilitation and Education Service (CARES) at Mount Sinai Morningside, focusing on integrated treatment and education for vulnerable youth. Her clinical specialties include program design, diversity, equity, and inclusion, mental health consultation, and trauma.

Dr. Taufique earned her PhD in Clinical/Child/School Psychology from New York University. She has received awards for teaching and supervision, including the Humanism in Psychiatry Award and multiple Teacher of the Year recognitions. She serves on advisory boards for The Art Therapy Project and AMAE Health, and consults on organizational team-building and leadership development.

Her research and clinical work emphasize co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders, trauma, and youth mental health. She actively mentors clinicians and collaborates to enhance clinical programs nationally.
