Sheyi Bankale

Dr. Sheyi Bankale is an Associate Lecturer at Camberwell College of Arts, specializing in Fine Art Photography. He serves as curator of Next Level Projects and editor of Next Level magazine, a leading European art photography publication. His work focuses on showcasing influential photo artists and fostering critical discourse in contemporary culture.

Bankale has curated major exhibitions including the touring 'Alice in Wonderland' for the 2011 European City of Culture in Finland—the largest contemporary photographic exhibition ever displayed there—and the Photo 50 exhibition at the London Art Fair. He actively participates in international portfolio reviews (e.g., Houston Fotofest, Les Rencontres d’Arles) and advises prestigious awards like The Prix Pictet and Google Photography Prize.

Prior roles include Visiting Professor of Photography at the University of Derby and teaching positions at Sotheby’s Institute of Art, University of Westminster, and the Centre of Contemporary Art in Lagos. His practice bridges curation, education, and art advocacy, with a focus on globalizing contemporary photographic art.
