Sherry Kao is an Assistant Teaching Professor in Georgetown University's Department of Philosophy specializing in normative ethics and applied philosophy. Her research examines well-being through Western (Aristotle, Mill, Kant) and Confucian frameworks, exploring intersections with autonomy, justice, and moral responsibility.
She teaches courses addressing ethical issues in contemporary contexts including misinformation dissemination, vaccine ethics, free speech boundaries, sexual consent, abortion debates, genetic enhancement, and climate responsibility. Her interdisciplinary approach bridges philosophical theory with practical dilemmas in biomedicine and environmental policy.
Dr. Kao holds a PhD in Philosophy from Rice University and has published on public health ethics, including analysis of COVID-19 policy responses in the Journal of Medical Ethics.
