Sherrie Baver

Sherrie Baver is a Professor in the Department of Political Science at The City College of New York, part of the City University of New York. She holds a Ph.D. from Columbia University and directs the Latin American and Latino Studies Program. Her research focuses on environmental politics in the Caribbean and Latino communities in New York, emphasizing policy implications and transnational dynamics.

Her publications include The Political Economy of Colonialism: The State and Industrialization in Puerto Rico (1993), co-edited volumes Latinos in New York: Communities in Transition (1996, 2017), and Beyond Sun and Sand: Caribbean Environmentalisms (2006), exploring socio-environmental challenges and cultural resilience.
