Dr. Sherilyn Houle is an Associate Professor in the School of Pharmacy at the University of Waterloo. She holds cross-appointments in the School of Public Health and Health Systems and serves as an Associate Professor (status) at the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Toronto. Her research focuses on pharmacy practice outcomes, particularly vaccinations and travel health, addressing vaccine hesitancy, immunization service impacts, and pharmacist roles in healthcare. Dr. Houle coordinates injections/immunizations training in the PharmD program and has contributed over 100 continuing professional development programs in vaccination and travel medicine.

Research Interests: Dr. Houle’s work spans clinical outcomes of pharmacist interventions, economic analyses of vaccination services, and practice-based research. She investigates pharmacist roles in immunizations, travel medicine, and vaccine-preventable diseases. Her methods include systematic reviews, surveys, and real-world data analysis.

Teaching & Leadership: Teaches courses like PHARM 155 (Drug Information) and chairs the Pharmacist Professional Group at the International Society of Travel Medicine. She co-founded the Pharmacy Innovation in Immunization Research Collaborative (PIIRC) and leads VaxCare Innovations to enhance vaccination awareness.
Professional Roles: Member of the Ontario Immunization Advisory Committee, Scientific Board for Travel Health Xpert, and editorial board member for Research in Social and Administrative Pharmacy. Active in over $2M in research funding as PI/Co-I.
