Dr. Sheng Xu is an Assistant Professor at the University of California San Diego specializing in flexible electronics for healthcare, energy, and robotics applications. His research centers on transforming rigid materials into soft, functional electronic systems through innovative fabrication strategies.

Dr. Xu pioneered two breakthrough contributions: First, wearable ultrasonic technology enabling noninvasive physiological monitoring at depths of 14 cm below skin surface—far exceeding conventional wearables limited to superficial tissues. Second, chemical epitaxial growth of single-crystal hybrid halide perovskites, solving critical challenges in material quality for flexible optoelectronics. His work bridges materials science with practical healthcare solutions through 'making hard materials soft.'
