Shena McAuliffe is an Associate Professor of English at Union College in Schenectady, New York (on sabbatical 2024–25). Her research focuses on creative writing, 20th/21st-century literature, narrative medicine, and the intersections of gender/sexuality studies with publishing. She holds a B.A. from Colorado State University, an M.F.A. from Washington University in St. Louis, and a Ph.D. from the University of Utah.

- Publications: Author of three books—We Are a Teeming Wilderness (2023), Glass, Light, Electricity (2020), and The Good Echo (2018)—plus over 30 short stories/essays in journals like Geist, Gulf Coast, and Black Warrior Review.
Her work blends experimental forms with deep research, often exploring themes of medical ethics, historical trauma, and environmental storytelling. Awards include the Pushcart Prize (2021) and the Big Moose Prize (2018).
