Shelly Thomas

Shelly Thomas is a Teaching Professor in the Department of Biological & Biomedical Sciences at Rowan University's College of Science & Mathematics. She teaches courses including Introduction to Evolution & Scientific Inquiry, Environmental Science, and Entomology, alongside previously teaching conservation biology and sustainable agriculture at other institutions.

Her research focuses on balancing natural resource use with biodiversity conservation, particularly in forest ecosystems. She has collaborated with undergraduate students on projects like the Acadian Forest Ecosystem Research Project, studying sustainable harvesting methods, and investigated bio-control beetles for invasive hemlock woolly adelgids in southern forests. She is also developing the Four Dimensional Ecology Education (4DEE) curriculum.
