Shelly Amato-Curran is the Coordinator of the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Program and an Assistant Professor at Walsh University. She holds a B.S.N. from The University of Akron, and an M.S.N. and Ph.D. from Kent State University. With over 35 years of nursing experience, her career has focused on neuro and trauma rehabilitation. Prior to her academic role, she served as a Clinical Nurse Specialist for over 20 years and is certified in rehabilitation nursing.

Research & Professional Activities:
- Program of research focuses on clinical topics including the effects of hospital environments on sleep in TBI patients and the impact of COVID-19 on rehabilitation outcomes.
- Manuscript reviewer for two peer-reviewed journals and currently serves on the Editorial Board of the Rehabilitation Nursing Journal.
- Former member of the IRB at MetroHealth System, serving as Vice Chair until 2021.
