Shelley Zhang

Shelley Zhang is a Professor of Computer Science at Gordon College, specializing in Artificial Intelligence (AI), intelligent agent technologies, and multi-agent systems. Her work explores how autonomous agents collaborate in team settings, with applications in supply chains, smart health systems, and defense technologies.

She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and previously taught at the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth before joining Gordon College. Shelley integrates Christian ethics into her teaching, emphasizing the importance of human dignity and moral responsibility in AI development, particularly in contentious areas like autonomous warfare.

Her research has secured grant funding from the federal Office of Naval Research and the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), reflecting its relevance to national defense and collaborative problem-solving in complex systems.
