Shelley Ann Jackson is an Associate Professor at the Cambridge School of Art within Anglia Ruskin University's Faculty of Arts, Humanities, Education and Social Sciences. As Course Leader for the MA Children’s Book Illustration program since 2018, she specializes in illustration, drawing, and book art with a focus on rhythmic syncopation between text and imagery. She combines over 20 years of arts education with professional illustration work for clients like the New York Times and Tundra Books.
Her research explores time’s portrayal in children’s literature, collaborative dynamics between authors and illustrators, and merging traditional/digital techniques. Key qualifications include a BA in Communication Design from the University of North Texas (1994), an MFA in Illustration as Visual Essay (1997), and an MFA in Writing for Children & Young Adults (2016).

Teaching modules include Sequential Image, Diploma Project, and Masters Stage Project. She has presented globally on topics like visual language development and illustrator career strategies, and remains active in SCBWI leadership roles since 1994. Founded The Girllustrators collective to support women in illustration.
