Sheldon Lu 鲁晓鹏 is Distinguished Professor of Comparative Literature at the University of California, Davis. He is affiliated with East Asian Studies, Performance Studies, Cultural Studies, Film and Media Studies, Critical Theory, and the Designated Emphasis in Environmental Humanities. Previously held positions include Chair of the Department of Comparative Literature and Director of the Graduate Program in Comparative Literature at UC Davis, as well as roles at institutions like the University of Pittsburgh and Beijing Normal University. A Fulbright scholar in Ukraine (2004-2005), his research focuses on intersections between literary studies, visual culture, film, and cultural theory. He has authored/edited 15+ books, including *Contemporary Chinese Cinema and Visual Culture* (2021) honored by BAFTSS in 2022. His interdisciplinary work bridges Chinese studies with global frameworks, emphasizing transnationalism and environmental humanities.

Research interests span Chinese cinema historiography, transnational visual culture, ecocinema, and critical theory. He pioneered the 'Critical Interventions' book series (2009-2019) with University of Hawaii Press. Recent work critiques discourses of 'Chinese film school' and explores spatiotemporal representations in modern Chinese cinema. Awards include BAFTSS honor and a Choice Award for academic excellence.
Led initiatives like the Film Studies Program at UC Davis and co-edited landmark texts such as *Chinese-Language Film: Historiography, Poetics, Politics*. His creative writing includes the 'Love Trilogy' novel series. Academic leadership includes designing study abroad programs and organizing special journal issues on topics like ecocinema and the modern city.
