Shefali Pathy, MD, MPH is an Associate Professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive Sciences at Yale School of Medicine. She serves as Site Director for Women's Health at Sargent Drive and Clerkship Director for Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive Sciences. Clinically, she directs the Women's Center at Yale New Haven Hospital and provides comprehensive OB/GYN care across the women's lifespan.
Dr. Pathy received her MD from Albert Einstein College of Medicine (2001) and completed her OB/GYN residency at Montefiore Medical Center (2005). She also holds an MPH from Yale School of Public Health (1997). Her medical training includes an internship at Montefiore Medical Center (2002).
Her research interests focus on women's health in urban settings, medical education innovations, gender-affirming care, and reproductive health access. She has developed curricula addressing politically charged topics in medical education and interdisciplinary approaches to women's health care. Her work demonstrates particular attention to health disparities and improving care for vulnerable populations.
Dr. Pathy's recent publications show strong engagement with contemporary issues in women's health including genetic carrier screening access, medication abortion for adolescents, HPV vaccination trials, and gender-affirming surgical education. Her research portfolio bridges clinical practice with educational innovation and health equity considerations.

As Clerkship Director and co-director of the Women and Children's Health Clerkship, Dr. Pathy plays a significant role in medical student education. She has developed simulation curricula including obstetric point-of-care ultrasonography training. Her clinical work at Yale New Haven Hospital focuses on comprehensive women's health services in an urban academic medical center setting. She has maintained an active research program with multiple collaborative projects across departments including those focused on sexual assault care improvement and addressing STI treatment disparities.
