Shee-Meng Thai

Shee-Meng Thai is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of South Wales. As a Chartered Engineer with over 20 years of experience, he specializes in Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). His research focuses on optimizing combustion processes in high-temperature furnaces and boilers using CFD and AI, with a particular emphasis on energy efficiency and emissions reduction.

Research Highlights:

• Developed intelligent flame monitoring systems for steel reheating furnaces through the SMARTFIRE project (2005).
• Investigated NOx reduction techniques in glass melting furnaces via CFD modelling in the CRAFTEM project (2012).
