Shawna Bendeck is an Instructor and Sociology Internship Coordinator at Colorado State University's Department of Sociology within the College of Liberal Arts. Her work bridges sociological theory with applied research on disasters, social capital, and youth/family dynamics. She holds a PhD in Sociology, MA in Clinical Sociology, and BA in Sociology from unspecified institutions.
Her research focuses on disaster resilience, social capital's role in marginalized populations, and the impact of crises on educational equity. Notable projects include studying foster care outcomes and pandemic effects on students with disabilities. She teaches courses like SOC 301 (Social Theory), SOC 105 (Social Problems), and SOC 463 (Sociology of Disasters).
