Shawn V. Lombardo is an Associate Professor and Coordinator of Collections Support Services at Oakland University Libraries. His roles include overseeing collections and contributing to library operations and academic support initiatives. Lombardo holds a Master of Library and Information Science from Wayne State University, a Master of Arts in English from Michigan State University, and a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Notre Dame.
His research focuses on demand-driven acquisitions, e-resource management, streaming video budgets, and library staff development. Notable works include studies on library instruction effectiveness, STEM faculty collaboration, and the impact of libraries on student success. His 2007 article on information literacy pedagogies was recognized as one of the top 20 articles by the American Library Association.
Lombardo has served on numerous university committees, including the Library Committee on Appointment and Promotion (as Chair), the Administrative Leadership Team, and various task forces addressing library discovery tools, strategic planning, and wayfinding. He has also contributed to university-wide initiatives such as the General Education Committee and the University Committee on Undergraduate Instruction (as Chair).
His awards include recognition from the Kresge Library 'Authors@Oakland' event, finalist status for the Teaching Professor Conference award, and multiple nominations for teaching excellence. Lombardo’s professional activities span roles in the Michigan Library Association, the Association of College and Research Libraries, and the Oakland Post Advisory Board.
