Sharon Wesoky is a Professor of Political Science and affiliated with Women’s Studies at Allegheny College. She holds a B.A. from Brandeis University and M.A./Ph.D. from Cornell University. Her research focuses on Chinese political theory, gender studies, and socialist feminist thought. She recently published Chinese Modernity and Socialist Feminist Theory (Routledge, 2023), an edited collection of writings by Chinese feminist Song Shaopeng. Wesoky teaches courses on Chinese politics, transnational feminisms, and East Asian democracy. Her work bridges comparative political theory and gender analysis, examining intersections of state policies and feminist movements in China.
Education: B.A., Brandeis University; M.A. and Ph.D., Cornell University.
Research interests include Chinese modernity, feminist NGO dynamics, and transnational feminism’s role in resisting neoliberalism. She has also co-edited volumes on political humor and Chinese governance.
