Dr. Sharon Stevelink is an Associate Professor (Reader) in Epidemiology at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience, King’s College London. She holds a part-time secondment to the Scottish Government’s Office of the Chief Social Policy Adviser, focusing on poverty trends in rural communities. Her research spans military health, occupational mental health, and welfare systems, with key projects including studies on veterans’ transition, healthcare workers’ mental health during the pandemic, and data linkage of benefits and health records. She is a Co-Principal Investigator on a long-term military mental health cohort and leads the NHS CHECK study on pandemic impacts.

Dr. Stevelink’s research emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration, including with the Department for Work and Pensions and Scottish Government. She was appointed to the Industrial Injuries Advisory Council in 2023. Her work addresses systemic issues in mental health service access, welfare policies, and occupational health disparities.
Key projects include the SUSTAIN study on female veterans’ transition challenges and the CPRD study analyzing veterans’ primary care needs. She also leads the NIHR Advanced Fellowship examining welfare system impacts on mental health service users. Her contributions span 147 publications, 31 projects, and three scientific awards.
