Sharon Stein is an Associate Professor of Climate Complexity and Coloniality in the Department of Educational Studies at the University of British Columbia’s Faculty of Education. Her work critically examines the intersections of climate justice, decolonization, and higher education reform, focusing on dismantling colonial structures and reimagining ethical futures. She is affiliated with the Vancouver campus’ Ponderosa Commons North and accessible via sharon.stein@ubc.ca.
Stein’s research explores global challenges in education, including climate colonialism, internationalization ethics, and the role of universities in addressing systemic inequities. She critiques modern/colonial imaginaries in higher education and advocates for decolonial methodologies, emphasizing Indigenous knowledges and Southern perspectives. Her recent work interrogates refugee student care, reparations, and the ethical obligations of faculty toward future generations.
