Dr Sharon Reid is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Public Health at the University of Sydney. Her research focuses on substance abuse and addiction, epidemiology, healthcare access, and public health policy. She has contributed to studies on opioid treatment, hepatitis C management, and maternal health interventions. Dr Reid is affiliated with the Neurosciences and Mental Health and Lifespan research themes, and her work often intersects with clinical practice guidelines and healthcare service delivery.
Her research interests include evaluating healthcare models for vulnerable populations, such as injecting drug users and mothers with substance dependence. She has pioneered projects on deprescribing opioid analgesics, integrating contraception clinics into opioid treatment programs, and improving access to care for individuals with chronic kidney disease. Dr Reid is also engaged in implementation science, designing trials to enhance adherence to mental health guidelines in general practice.
